He has been a living testimony that people can get a second chance in life no matter the prevailing circumstances. Sudhir Choudhrie discovered that he had a heart condition during his early stages in life that needed a transplant for him to live. Coming from a humble background and losing his father as a teenager, his life became uncertain. But his mother never gave up on Sudhir Choudhrie and played both the role of a father and mother throughout his health journey. Choudhrie’s vision to succeed made him pass with good grades in high school and was later admitted to the University of Delhi. Despite his health condition, he graduated with a degree in economics and started his career while working at his grandfather’s firm.
Sudhir Choudhrie’s life changed when he attained 20 and got a heart donor from the US. He would later undergo a heart transplant at the Columbia University Medical Centre in New York. After undergoing successful surgery, Choudhrie’s life changed as he had gotten a second chance to live and view the world in a different way. To date, Choudhrie is one of the longest surviving people with over 22 years since the heart transplant was conducted.
At 71 years old, Sudhir Choudhrie has become a successful businessperson who has decided to give back to the community as a philanthropist. He established his family’s charitable organization in 2010 to help more people like him get access to organ transplants. The organization has partnered with other like-minded organizations to raise awareness and raise funds across the US and UK to see over 500,000 lives saved. Due to his contribution, he has received recognition and awards from prominent personalities like the former UK Prime Minister Theresa May.
