Dr. Mahmoud Khattab is a world-renowned international lecturer in the field of Diabetes and Obesity. He is also a medical doctor, researcher, and professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the American University of Beirut. Dr. Khattab is one of only 1% Arab researchers selected to participate in the NIH-funded Arab Diabetes Research Training Program. He served as the principal investigator of this project and has been involved in various research projects, including The Arab Diabetes Research Training Program (ADARP), which was funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to train more than 60 young Arab researchers in diabetes research at eight universities throughout Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon.

Dr. Khattab has published over 80 scientific papers in international journals such as the Journal of Diabetes and Clinical Research, the American Journal of Physiology, and Diabetes Care. His research focuses on understanding the pathophysiology of type-2 diabetes and obesity through studies conducted on human and animal models. He is also interested in identifying new therapeutic targets for diabetes management.
